Nancy Landry State Representative

Committed to Louisiana Families
Nancy Landry is an award-winning Family Law Counselor, committed to the
real issues facing Louisiana families.
Nancy was born on a US military base overseas. Her father was a Navy
man from a big Vermilion Parish family. (Photo Gallery)
Nancy grew up in Lafayette. She graduated from Lafayette High with Honors
in 1980. Nancy graduated from LSU in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree
in Psychology. Nancy then graduated from LSU Law School in 1990.
Nancy worked as an Account Manager for prestigious West Publishing in
Dallas and Seattle before returning home.
While serving as Judicial Law Clerk in Family Court for the 15th Judicial
District, Nancy recognized that many families make too little money to afford
traditional legal representation, but too much to receive free legal services.
Many had no choice but to struggle their way through the complicated Family
Court procedures without professional assistance.
This clogged the courts, created hardship for the families, and made it more
difficult to achieve results that were beneficial for all the family members --
parents and children.
Nancy set out to establish a unique kind of law service to help address this
problem. She researched the legal systems of other states, and is the first
to offer "Unbundled Legal Services" to her clients here in Acadiana.
Nancy's pioneering family law work was recognized with a 2006 "Women of
Excellence" Award in the Business/Industry Category from The Lafayette
Commission on the Needs of Women.
Simply explained, Nancy helps families help themselves. She explains the
process, helps with forms and pleadings and coaches them on how to
appear in court on their own. Most of all, this kind of service costs the family
less than traditional legal representation. If they need full representation,
Nancy does that for them also.
The result is that more of these families can effectively present their issues
in Family Court, the courts run more efficiently, and there is a greater chance
of achieving beneficial outcomes for these families.
As a mother and owner of a small business, Nancy is in touch with the
issues facing the families and businesses of the 31st District.
Nancy will work hard, and put our families and our businesses ahead of
partisanship, or personal gain. Her conservative, common sense approach
and leadership experience will be a real asset to our legislative delegation.
